LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Antwon Perkins, who is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a student at Cadwallader Middle School, made his first appearance in court on Thursday morning.
A 12-year-old girl says that a man forced her into his truck as she was walking to school on Jan. 24.
He drove her to a different location and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, he drove her back to a location near her school and dropped her off. The girl immediately ran to school and told school officials who called police.
Perkins was not captured until the following day despite the fact that he was identified fairly quickly by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
He was arrested following a barricade on Jan. 25. Perkins was transported to a hospital after his arrest because of self-inflicted wounds.
Perkins has also been identified as a suspect in the case of an attack on another girl in May 2018.
His next court date is March 8.
