Las Vegas police arrest men for deadly encounter in liquor store parking lot

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police have arrested the 2 men they believe were involved in an incident in a parking lot near Valley View Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

It happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sept. 27.

Homicide Detectives learned the victims parked their pickup truck in a parking spot in front of a liquor convenience store.

The driver exited the pickup truck and began arguing with an unidentified female over the way she parked her vehicle.

As the two were arguing, 33-year-old Jimmie Newson and 33-year-old Thirlon Newman got out of a light blue BMW and became involved.

The second victim exited the pickup truck and shortly after, Newson and Newman punched the victims.

Both victims fell to the ground unconscious. Newson and Newman got back into the blue BMW and fled the scene. One of the men died and the other was badly injured.

On Sept. 28, Newson and Newman were taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Clark County Detention Center and booked for Open Murder and Battery with Substantial Bodily Harm.

The identification of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
