LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Cold case detectives identify and arrest a man connected with a 2008 homicide in Las Vegas.

On December 19, 2008, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department patrol officers responded to the 5800 block of West Harmon Avenue to investigate a suspicious death.

Evidence at the scene suggested that a person was involved in a struggle.

On December 20, 2008, the Clark County Coroner determined that person, identified as Richard Cline, died from neck compression and blunt force trauma.

However, all investigative leads were exhausted, and the case went cold.

LVMPD cold case detectives reviewed the case and resubmitted DNA evidence located at the scene for additional testing.

On November 12, 2019, those investigators were notified that a person had been identified, possibly connected to the case.

As a result of the investigation, detectives identified 44-year-old Quincy Cook as the person involved in the 2008 crime.

Cook was already in custody at the Clark County Detention Center for unrelated crimes and was re-booked for one count of open murder, according to police.
