Police are investigating a man's death in northwest Las Vegas Tuesday night.

The incident was reported around 10:47 p.m. in the 5800 block of Sky Pointe Drive, near Tenaya Way.

Homicide detectives indicated the victim and an adult male suspect were heard arguing, and then seen physically fighting.

One gunshot was heard, and the victim fell to the ground. A second gunshot was heard, and the suspect left the scene on foot towards the entrance to the complex.

The suspect could only be described as a black man who was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

Officers found the man shot inside a carport in the apartment complex. He was pronounced dead on scene. The Clark County coroner identified him as 26-year-old Kwame Banks of Las Vegas. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Security guards monitor the complex, though it is unclear if they were able to get involved.

This is the 24th homicide investigated by Las Vegas police in 2017.
