Southern Nevada Health District employee tests positive for COVID-19

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Southern Nevada Health District reports that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19, in what is the first confirmed case of the virus at the district.

The staff member developed symptoms over the weekend and has not been at work since, according to the SNHD, as the employee is currently self isolating.

The health district also said it was notifying close contacts of their potential exposure.

The employee previously had some limited interaction with patients in a clinical setting, and those patients will be notified of their potential exposure and provided with the appropriate information.

As essential public health workers, staff members are on the front lines of the coronavirus response. The health of staff and patients is very important, according to the district.

Precautions for both staff and clients are in place in response to the COVID-19 situation, and the SNHD said it will continue to provide services to the public.

The health district also said it remains committed to keeping its patients, staff, and the community informed of new and updated information during this rapidly evolving pandemic.
