LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Fashion brands are creating masks they say are designed to help against the coronavirus.

Under Armour and Burberry are using an anti-microbial property in their masks.

CORONAVIRUS: State of Nevada reports positivity rate climbs to 21.5%

However, experts in infection prevention say it's unclear if the anti-microbial technology will help fight off COVID-19.

And doctors are concerned these new masks could create a false sense of security. Instead experts say people should look for other things when choosing a mask.

"Sometimes there's double or even triple layer masks. Those, in general, are going to be a thicker mask that's going to prevent more from coming your way," said Dr. Erin Jenkins, director of infection prevention for the Rose Medical Center.

Also, doctors say wearing any mask is better than not wearing one at all.
