ORIGINAL STORY
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers are investigating a murder-suicide at 1350 N. Town Center Dr near the intersection with Covington Cross Drive.

During a press briefing Lt. Ray Spencer said at about 11 a.m. today an out-of-state family member called in a welfare check after not hearing from their parents in over a week.

Police say upon arrival at the apartment officers noticed an odor and obtained a key from the property manager for entry.

After entering the apartment Spencer says officers found a male and a female deceased from what appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to police, it appears the woman was killed several days prior to the man and that he appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both died from gunshot wounds, police say.

"There were some financial problems that the couple were having, along with some medical problems and everything at the scene indicates that it is a murder-suicide," said Spencer.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
