Flight from Vegas diverted after bird strike

An American Airlines flight was diverted to Phoenix, Arizona, after a bird hit the plane during takeoff from McCarran International Airport.

The strike cracked the windshield of the plane, which departed shortly before 1 a.m.

After the plane landed in Phoenix, its passengers were quickly put onto another flight.

It is scheduled to arrive in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a few hours.

There were 174 passengers on board the Airbus A321.
