LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — At least one person is dead after a crash involving a semi-truck near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash on Las Vegas Boulevard and Checkered Flag on Thursday afternoon.
As of 6:40 p.m., Las Vegas Boulevard remains closed in both directions.
NHP says a DHL truck was pulling out from a driveway on the I-15 and did not have the right of way. It pulled in front of a semi-truck that swerved to avoid the DHL truck.
This caused the semi-truck to drive into oncoming traffic, authorities say, where the semi-truck hit the SUV head-on.
