UPDATED: Coroner identifies both men shot in vehicle

No charges filed in double shooting

LATEST UPDATE: The Clark County coroner has identified both men who were shot and killed during an altercation inside a vehicle in Henderson.

The men are 34-year-old lanard Lafare Wilson Jr. and 25-year-old Selvy Auston. No city of residence was officially listed for either man. Both men were killed by multiple gunshots.

UPDATE: Family members identify one of the men shot and killed as Lanard Wilson of California.

"I feel like I just got hit by a truck," said relative Sandra Ford. "I just want to hold his sister, his mom, his son."

Loved ones do not know the details surrounding the double fatal shooting.

13 Action News has not confirmed the identity of the second man killed.

"It was just devastating to get that call," said Ford. "I've been looking on the news, trying to find stories."

Police said an altercation occurred between four men inside a dark-colored Nissan Altima. A backseat passenger fired several shots, killing Wilson and the front seat passenger. Police said the surviving passengers have not been charged with a crime at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

"The most messed up thing about it, we don't know what's going on," said Ford.

Multiple neighbors tell 13 Action News the shooter is a beloved local jeweler. We're told he was defending himself during a botched robbery.  Police have not confirmed those details.

Ford said Wilson, a father of four, also leaves behind a devastated mother and sister.

"It hurts because I'm not going to be able to see him no more, hug him," she said.

13 Action News is working to gather more details regarding this incident.

Two people are dead after a shooting at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Horizon Ridge Parkway and Mission Drive.

Four people were traveling in a vehicle when an altercation took place. The driver and the front passenger were shot. Their car veered into a nearby home and caught fire.

Two other passengers were injured in the crash. They are currently being questioned by police detectives, but are not in custody.

Police do not believe this incident was a drive-by shooting, saying the entire altercation took place inside the vehicle between the four people.

13 Action News reached out to our Crime and Safety Expert, retired Las Vegas police Lt. Randy Sutton, for answers on why no one was arrested.

"Many people think homicide equals murder and it does not. A homicide is simply the killing of one person by another person and that can mean self defense," Sutton said.

Henderson police have not confirmed if the crime was self defense instead said it was an ongoing investigation.

The homeowners were present at the time of the incident, but were uninjured. Their house received minor damages.

In 2015, Henderson had 4 homicides.  Police say this shooting and crash were the 4th and 5th homicides so far this year.

"Our citizen's safety is what is most important to our community," says Michelle French, with Henderson Police Department.  "We want a safe community, and we want to remain at one of the safest cities in the United States."
