New Year's Eve 2019 Road Closures

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close the south and northbound Interstate 15 off-ramps at 5 p.m., Dec. 31 at Spring Mountain Road, Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue. However, motorists can still enter and exit I-15 at Sahara and at Russell Road. Vehicle access will also be restricted at the following locations:

  • Tropicana Avenue westbound at Koval Lane.
  • Tropicana Avenue eastbound at Industrial/Dean Martin Drive
  • Flamingo Road eastbound at Valley View Boulevard
  • The right lane on Sahara Avenue eastbound at I-15 will have one lane closed to allow a dedicated turn lane from the off-ramp at I-15 northbound to Sahara Avenue eastbound.
  • East and westbound Sahara Avenue turn lanes onto Las Vegas Boulevard southbound will be closed.

“Roughly 320,000 visitors will celebrate the New Year in Southern Nevada, with many of them welcoming 2019 on the Las Vegas Strip,” said NDOT spokesman Tony Illia. “As such, we are making several temporary road and highway closures, ensuring a safe and successful event for both motorists and revelers.”
Ramp restrictions will be lifted between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m., Jan. 1, 2019, or at the discretion of the Joint Operations Center in the Freeway Arterial System of Transportation (FAST).

Below is a schedule of the anticipated road closures and re-openings:

5:00 p.m. -- Closing of off-ramps from I-15 onto eastbound Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road by NHP/NDOT begins.

5:45 p.m. -- The closing of all other streets, roads and alleys leading Westbound onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road from Koval Lane will begin.

e:00 p.m. -- All streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road will be closed with all barricades in place.

6:15 p.m. -- LVMPD Traffic Officers begin clearing all vehicular traffic off Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road.

6:45 p.m. -- Las Vegas Boulevard along with all inbound roads leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard are fully closed to vehicle traffic.

6:45 – 7:00 p.m. -- All moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will be shut off.

Approximately 6:45 p.m. -- Las Vegas Boulevard fully opens to pedestrian traffic.

Major closures: Fourth Street to Main Street and Carson Avenue to Ogden Avenue.

New Year's Eve at the Plaza Hotel Casino
Monday, Dec. 31, midnight.
Main Street will be closed from Carson Avenue to Ogden Avenue with support from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department beginning about midnight for approximately 15 minutes.
