LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A smartphone app is helping drivers find parking in downtown Las Vegas.

Right now, construction crews are working on several safety and improvement projects in downtown, with some projects expected to last several months. The construction, as well as recent parking changes in downtown, have made it difficult for some drivers to find parking.

"One of the repeated complaints that we get is that it can be difficult to find parking," says Brandy Stanley, the parking services manager with the city of Las Vegas.

Now, the city is hoping to change that. They're partnered with SpotAngels, a smartphone app that shows users parking availability in major cities. Users can type in a destination and the app will show all nearby available parking, and show how much they can expect to pay.

"We wanted to put a tool out there where parking is close to their destination," says Stanley.

The app is different from the city's Passport Parking app, where drivers can pay for parking from their phones.
