LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A motorcyclist is in "critical condition" after a hit-and-run near downtown Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred at the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and North 27th Street around 4:25 p.m.
Police say evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on E. Charleston Boulevard in the left of three eastbound travel lanes. At the same time, a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica was exiting a private drive located on the south curb of East Charleston Boulevard and "failed to yield the right of way to eastbound traffic."
The collision occurred when the Chrysler crossed the Harley-Davidson's path of travel and was struck on the left side.
The Chrysler failed to remain on the scene and fled northbound on 27th Street, though was later located and booked for hit-and-run charges.
The motorcyclist sustained substantial injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to UMC Trauma by ambulance, where he remains in critical condition.
Police say the incident remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
