Starting Oct. 5 and continuing for approximately two weeks, work on Las Vegas Boulevard southbound storm drain installation will reduce the street to one lane in each direction at Oakey Boulevard and restrict access to Oakey to eastbound only.

Following completion of the storm drain installation on Las Vegas Boulevard at Oakey, northbound installation of water lines at the intersection will begin, resulting in access to westbound Oakey only.

Traffic will be detoured one block during the construction through the intersection.

Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Business access will be maintained. Maryland Parkway and Grand Central Parkway are recommended as alternate routes for north- and southbound traffic.

The existing storm drainpipe to be replaced is from 1954; waterlines to be replaced are from 1955. This three-year reconstruction of Las Vegas Boulevard from Stewart Avenue to Sahara Avenue is the largest roadway project in the history of the city of Las Vegas Public Works Department.
