LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One person is dead after a Wednesday night crash in the southern valley.
It happened just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Valley View Boulevard and Somerset Hills Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Someone was crossing Valley View in a marked crosswalk at the same time 2003 GMC Yukon was heading south on Valley View, according to police. The GMC's driver failed to yield to the pedestrian, resulting in a crash, police said.
The driver stayed at the scene and didn't show any signs of impairment.
The pedestrian was taken to UMC trauma, where they were pronounced dead after medical intervention.
This marks the 117th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2025.
