The Nevada Department of Transportation will close Martin Luther King Boulevard at U.S. 95 from 10 p.m., April 20, until 5 a.m., April 23, in downtown Las Vegas.

Additionally, the Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 95 north and southbound offramps to Martin Luther King Boulevard will be closed during the same time frame as well as the Martin Luther King Boulevard onramp to U.S. Highway 95 northbound.

The temporary closures are needed for bridge demolition related to “The Main Event,” the third and final phase of work for Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue.

Bridge demolition is required due to age and the need for greater capacity. Debris rubble is being crushed and reused as fill material elsewhere on Project Neon rather than placed in landfill.
