Hurricane Newton made landfall in northwest Mexico Wednesday morning.

Since then, it's weakened into a tropical storm, and now it's expected to continue traveling north and slightly eastward toward Arizona and New Mexico.

As the tropical storm weakens over land, it'll still drop substantial amounts of rain across Arizona and New Mexico, which will lead to flooding.

Some parts of Arizona could receive between three and four inches of rain, which is the equivalent of receiving between one-fourth and one-third of the annual rainfall in a single day!

Flooding will be a major issue, but since this storm will move relatively quickly, Thursday will be dry, giving everyone a chance to dry out.
