Soccer players got a chance this past weekend to try out for the LA Galaxy II, the Major League Soccer team's lower division team.

Nearly 300 players enrolled in tryouts for the LA Galaxy II with the hope of making the roster for the 2016 season.

"We feel like we wanted to have a wider net in terms of trying to find those diamonds in the rough," said Kurt Onalfo, head coach of LA Galaxy II.

Onalfo said they've narrowed it down to about a dozen possible players.

The LA Galaxy are the first Major League Soccer club to have a lower division team as part of its developmental program. Team officials say at least one player will be invited to play in the preseason.
