LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — All good things must come to an end, even for sports bettors.

After.a perfect 4-0 start that proved lucrative to Vegas Golden Knights backers, Wednesday’s loss at home versus Colorado earned a little money back for the sportsbooks.

With as much interest on the Vegas side, the odds on Wednesday's game closed with VGK favored at -200 (meaning you had to bet $20 to win $10) — significantly higher than the opening consensus price of -152, which means a lot of folks around town were betting on the home side.

Still, with the Golden Knights’ preseason success, the odds for tonight’s game once again shows heavy interest on the home side as they have already shifted from -175 to -200 consensus versus division rivals LA Kings.

It’s important to know ahead of tonight’s game that both teams are on very different schedules. For the Golden Knights, this is their second-to-last game of the preseason.

For the Kings, this is their last game before an eight-day layoff ahead of the start of their season in Edmonton. So not only are you handicapping the game, but also the motivation and coaching strategies (are they looking at finalizing their lines? Are they making final roster choices? etc.)

Perhaps more interesting than the odds on the game, the over/under for tonight’s game sits at 6 (where it opened at most Las Vegas sportsbooks) with the over favored slightly at -115.

This is despite the fact that all but the first game of preseason has remained under the betting total and star goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury getting the nod for VGK tonight per coach Gerard Gallant.

Also, only once in the previous six LA Kings games has the total gone above five (a 7-5 shootout win vs Vancouver on September 21).
