LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It’s a good thing this is only the preseason for the NHL, otherwise Las Vegas sportsbooks would be begging for mercy from Vegas Golden Knights backers.

With a perfect 4-0 start to the preseason, VGK bettors are laughing their way to the bank.

That said, more and more bettors are jumping on the bandwagon. Tonight’s game against division rival Colorado Avalanche opened with the hometown Golden Knights as a -152 favorite, but has already shot all the way up to -200 (so, putting $10 on the good guys to win tonight would win you $5 on top of your $10 bet).

That said, anybody brave enough to back the Avalanche tonight would be rewarded to the tune of +170 consensus ($10 on Colorado would win you $17 plus your $10 bet).

This line movement shows the importance of timing your bets properly. Since their is so much interest in VGK with their hot preseason run, it paid to be at the betting window (or on your betting app) early.

That won’t always be the case and line moves will be different depending on news or roster changes, so keep an eye open and make sure to shop around for the best prices (at the time this article went live, South Point was at -185 and MGM was -190 on VGK, while most other books were at -200 or higher).

Tonight’s over/under is an intriguing way to approach tonight’s game. According to The Athletic’s Jesse Granger, assistant coach Mike Kelly confirmed that backup goaltender Malcolm Subban will start tonight’s game.

Even with this news, the over/under is available widely around town at 5.5 with the over favored at -120 at most shops.
