LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Vegas Golden Knights were defeated by the Dallas Stars 3-2 tonight in Edmonton after Game 5 went into overtime.
Game 5 was a must-win for Vegas as they entered the matchup trailing Dallas 3 game to 1.
With this win, Dallas cuts Vegas' Stanley Cup dreams short.
The game got off to a good start with the Golden Knights scoring first off a goal from Chandler Stephenson in the first period.

The second period was scoreless for both teams, and heading into the third period Vegas was ahead 1-0.
Reilly Smith scored in the third period making it 2-0 for Vegas until the Stars scored making it 2-1 off a goal from Jamie Benn.

Stars scored with less than 4 minutes to go, making it 2-2 and the game went to overtime.
Dallas scored in overtime, winning the game 3-2, sending the Golden Knights home and punching their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final.
