Core samples were taken Friday from the preferred site for the Raiders stadium in Las Vegas.
That site is located near Russell Road and Polaris Avenue, not far from Interstate 15.
Lease and development agreements are still needed though before construction can get started. The core sampling is one of the steps to begin that process.
The Raiders received approval from 31 of 32 NFL owners to move to Las Vegas on Monday.
