LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A local teacher got a free car Friday afternoon as part of Clark County School District's teacher appreciation week.

Walter Longer Elementary School teacher Gregory Winiewicz was given a 2019 Chevy Cruze after he was selected out of more than 1,000 teachers who were nominated by their principals.

Winiewicz said he needed a new car as the roof of his old car had a hole in it.

He was nominated based on being a high achieving and dedicated educator, according to an event spokesperson.
