LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — UNLV has been acknowledged for its status as a top research university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
The school had set a goal to become a tier one research university by 2025. The plan includes earning the top classification.
UNLV joins University of Nevada, Reno, as the two Nevada schools to achieve the "very high research activity" status. UNLV is one of 130 institutions nationwide to receive the designation.
