More than 35,000 people packed the streets of Summerlin for this year's Patriotic Parade.

More than 70 floats, bands, groups and dancers made their way through Summerlin for the valley's largest Independence Day Parade Monday.

Parade-goers say the holiday means a lot more to them than just a chance to have a barbecue with their families.

"It means freedom," said Luis Vazquez. "The fact that we're one of the few countries in the world that have a democracy and we need to remember those who have paid with their lives to give us the freedom we have today."

This was the 22nd year of the parade.
