New York-New York hotel-casino raised a record-breaking amount of more than $200,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation this past Saturday, March 12, during the 7th annual head-shaving event.

Celebrity head-shavers, Las Vegas residents and tourists alike came out to cheer on the shavees who shed their locks in support of childhood cancer research. Crushing last year’s donation of $188,000, New York-New York will give all proceeds from this year’s fun-filled event to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Highlights from this year’s event include:

· John W. Bonner Elementary School’s Principal Paul Catania and 36 students, known as the “Bonner Boys,” took turns in the barber chairs and braved a shave, including the original Bonner Boys, Trey and Barrett along with brother and sister Jacob and Maddy. This is the fifth consecutive year the Bonner Boys have shaved their heads to help raise awareness for childhood cancer.

· Cast members from New York-New York’s headlining show, "Zumanity," shaved their general manager’s head.

· Mark Shunock, former cast member of "Rock of Ages," encouraged the crowd to donate $800 to shave one man’s beard.

· Before completely shaving Brian McMullan’s hair, celebrity head-shaver Charlie Starling of "Absinthe," buzzed Brian’s hair to a Mohawk. Guests had the opportunity to take a selfie with the stylishly-cut John M. McManus, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for MGM Resorts International for $5. Ruth and Brian McMullan, who introduced the St. Baldrick’s event to Vegas, were among the picture-takers.

· All four cast members of "Human Nature" worked together to shave Pamela Truax’s colorful long locks as she “braved a shave” with the rest of New York-New York’s corporate purchasing team.
