On March 10, Opportunity Village’s Job Discovery Program was recognized as a Merit Finalist Award Recipient in Mutual of America’s 2015 Community Partnership Award Competition.
Opportunity Village’s JDP (Job Discovery Program) is a partnership between the organization and the Clark County School District.
They provide students with intellectual disabilities in high school the opportunity to receive vocational training in six different skill sets.
These include commercial and industrial kitchen work, indoor and outdoor maintenance, retail, grounds keeping, and child care.
Students between the ages 18-22 years spend six hours a day learning these skills at 14 various sites and rotating every 9 weeks.
