Operation Fireheat donated thousands of dollars to help people during the holidays.

About 100 families will have a spectacular Christmas thanks to the organization, Amazing Acts of Kindness.

AAOK matches families in need with families willing to sponsor them. Even with sponsoring families, the organization sometimes needs additional money to buy gifts for teens or any last minute families.

So Operation Fireheat ponied up $1,500 to help.

"Every year there has always been a couple of families we need to help ourselves so we'll go out and do a little shopping," said Brian Golbourne of AAOK.

Operation Fireheat also donated $1,500 to Casa De Luz, a church that helps provide Christmas gifts to the kids in their neighborhood.  But the pastor, Chris Chapel, said they really need cash to take their teens shopping.

"That's a hard transition in life going in to teen years," Chapel said. "And any opportunity for love people are susceptible to. So we are trying to show them a positive love. Let them know people care about you, you are important."

Beth Fisher is on the board of Operation Fireheat, which provides to families affected by fire.
