Organizers say the $17,244 is the most money ever raised during a weekday charity challenge at the zipline on the Fremont Street Experience.
Spread the World Nevada gives books to at-risk, low-income children. They get them for a dollar a book, which means more than 17,000 books are going to students around Southern Nevada.
