On June 11, 1889, Raffaele Esposito created the first pizza for Queen Margherita of Savoy. Since then, the recipe has migrated over to the United States where it became an American staple.
Marco's Pizza is celebrating the dish's birthday by offering CheezyBread for $1.27 all day on Saturday with any purchase at participating locations.
June 11 also marks the launch of Marco's Eat, Share, Win Sweepstakes. The restaurant chain is giving away Italian-themed prizes, including a Vespa scooter, a Gucci purse, Armani watches, and Versace sunglasses. The grand prize is a trip for 2 to Italy.
