Las Vegas-based barber Elliott Chester has done the impossible, opening a new barbershop in the midst of COVID-19 to Downtown Las Vegas and the historic Huntridge Center.

Elliott Chester was born to be a barber, in fact it was so ingrained in his way of life that he doesn’t remember a time when a pair of clippers weren’t close by.

Nearly $500,000 has been spent on The Garrison space, providing an old-world feel, but with modern touches. Tipping their hat in a salute to veterans (The Garrison means a place where a body of troops are stationed), the shop has started collecting pins and patches from customers who are encouraged to share their stories from when they served.

Veterans also receive a discount on all services. The location opened with four barbers in early September and will increase capacity once COVID regulations are lifted.

Among the barbers Elliott recruited for The Garrison is renowned barber and former fellow Layrite global educator, Shon Lahon. Lahon most recently owned a shop in Huntington Beach, CA. He will manage the day-to-day operations for The Garrison, helping to create a one-of-a-kind guest experience for all.

Elliott began his career as a barber in Bakersfield, CA, driving to Las Vegas on weekends cutting hair in his friend’s barbershop. After moving here full time, he worked at both Truefitt & Hill and The Art of Shaving, both on the Las Vegas Strip and catering to a higher-end clientele.

The experience fueled his passion for the craft and led him to open his own shop, Elliott and Company, in December 2007.

The Garrison is located at 1130 East Charleston Blvd., Suite 120.
