UPDATE: Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino celebrated one year of being in business!

The hotel and casino prides themselves on having very pronounced Asian culture, catering to Asian people and people who simply enjoy all things Asian.

"It's been really fun to see this place grow from its grand opening exactly a year ago today to a place that's now internationally recognized," said Lucky Dragon's COO Dave Jacoby.

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino features Asian cuisine and Asian gaming like Baccarat and Pai Gow.

"For the food, this place is much better than even on the strip or Chinatown," said local Mary Lee who comes to Lucky Dragon often with her husband.

Lucky Dragon is the first of its kind in Las Vegas. It was specifically built for the Asian community.

"A lot of the other resorts in Las Vegas are maybe not built for the Asian community but maybe a small sub-section at their resort that is dedicated to that customer base," said Jacoby. "We kind of flipped that model on its head."

Tens of thousands of Asians visit Las Vegas yearly. One year ago, the first direct flight from Beijing to Las Vegas landed here. The flight operates a few times weekly now.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority wants to boost international visitation to 30% within the next 10 years. Places like Lucky Dragon and the direct flight are proving to help.

ORIGINAL STORY: Lucky Dragon is celebrating its first anniversary on December 3.

The hotel-casino will be giving away t-shirts and have live music from DJ Sojourner starting at noon. There will also be dinner and live entertainment at Dragon's Alley, the night market-themed event space near the casino floor, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Additionally, guests can catch a traditional lion and dragon dance at 6 p.m. with a repeat performance at 8 p.m.

"Being the first new resort to open in more than six years and a part of the growth of the North Strip is something we take great pride in," said Lucky Dragon General Manager Jordan Seager. "This celebration is as much a commemoration of our first year in business as it is a toast to all of the great things to come.”

The property's luxury dining room, Phoenix, will also offer 2-for-1 specials on all entrees through the entire month of December as part of the anniversary festivities.
