Lee Canyon is open for the summer. And while many visit the ski resort for the hiking trails or scenic chairlifts, others are honing their skills on the disc golf course.

"I come up... at least one day out of the week," said disc golf player Cody McConkey. "I'm not a huge fan of playing in the [valley] parks, especially when it's 100 degrees outside.

Disc golf is a staple at Lee Canyon's Mountain Fest, which will be held this year on July 22. The 18-hole Birdies and Beers competition kicks off at 8 a.m. and includes a beer station every four tees.

McConkey has participated in the tournament for the past few years.

"It's a good opportunity if you've never played frisbee golf to come up, have a few beers, and meet some of the locals," he said. "The tournament is pretty casual. Nobody really cares who wins or loses. It's all about having a good time."

Mountain Fest also has a beer garden open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those that would rather skip the tournament and head straight for the brews. There will also be performances from local bands, including The All-Togethers, When We Escape, and Stoked! beginning at 12 p.m.
