The Las Vegas Film Festival returns to downtown Las Vegas from June 7 - June 12. Featuring screenings at Inspire Theater and Fremont Country Club, the event will showcase more than 80 original films and documentaries.
During the festival, CineVegas will hold its Throwback Thursday Celebration on June 9 at Brenden Theaters inside the Palms Casino. The event includes two films - "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" and "Directors Cut." Penn Jillette from "Penn & Teller" stars in "Directors Cut," and will make a special appearance during the celebration.
The Young Cinema Lab will return for its second year with the film festival. UNLV Film students will mentor elementary and middle school children to write and create their own movies. The collection of 2016 Young Cinema Lab short films will premiere at Inspire Theater on June 11 at noon.
The festival also includes the third installment of the Music Video Lab, where local Las Vegas bands will pair up with directors to create music videos to be screened at the festival.
Mixers and parties will be held throughout the festival. Yelp will sponsor a mixer at the filmmaker lounge inside Backstage Bar and Billiards, and will be open to the public. Oogoog is sponsoring an opening night party in the Real World suite at the Gold Spike, CineVegas will host a reunion party at Ghostbar on June 9, and the closing night party will feature live music from local bands in the rotunda of the Zappos headquarters on June 11.
