Hundreds laced up their running shoes Saturday morning for the fourth annual Douglass J. Green Memorial Foundation Run and Walk.
The walk was held at Bruce Trent Park near Rampart Boulevard and Vegas Drive.
Army Specialist Green was killed in Afghanistan when enemy fighters attacked his unit.
The annual event is held for military members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"We have booths of fallen heroes all along the course, so people when they're running can see them," said Green's mother Suni Chabrow. "We have a lot of active duty veterans that are here as well. So it's just a great time. A great day to come out and honor our fallen."
All proceeds from Saturday's event benefit military families.
