HENDERSON (KTNV)) — A Henderson WWII veteran is not letting the coronavirus pandemic ruin his big day.

Syd Aronson will be celebrating his 99th birthday on March 25, but his family says they won't be able to have a party this year due to social distancing.

Aronson flew a B24 Liberator in the Pacific Theatre. He flew 39 missions and miraculously survived five crash landings, three of which were over water.

After the war, Aronson entered the health insurance field, where his family says he was considered an early pioneer.

Aronson helped to shape Medicaid for the state of California, he founded prescription insurance for several large companies, and he later became one of the first Americans to work with the Lloyds of London.

This year, Aronson's family is asking for your help to celebrate his big birthday - since he can't have a party - he has asked for special messages from everyone in the community.
