The City of Henderson is again offering discounted adoption fees in an effort to place every adoptable animal at least one year old into loving homes.

From Dec. 1 through Dec. 31, City of Henderson Animal Care and Control is offering adoption fees at a 50% discount for adult pets.

For example:

- Adult Cats: $40 (regularly $80)

- Adult Dogs: $45 (regularly $90)

- Rabbits: $17.50 (regularly $35)

Those interested in adopting should first visit the City of Henderson Animal Care and Control webpage to view and read about the adoptable pets prior to coming to the shelter.

Appointments are not necessary, but a pet must be selected for possible adoption before visiting the shelter.

The shelter is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed holidays). Anyone who would like to adopt a pet during Home for the Holidays must have their furry, feathered or fishy friend chosen before 4:30 p.m.

The shelter is located at 300 E. Galleria Dr. (east of Boulder Highway, near the Bird Viewing Preserve).

Adoption costs include routine vaccines, spay or neuter surgery if not already done, microchip ID and registration, and rabies tag or Henderson license (depending on residence).

Anyone with pets at home who wishes to adopt must provide current rabies vaccination and spay/neuter paperwork to get licensed, no exceptions. If pets are already licensed with City of Henderson, this does not apply.
