Walker Furniture is seeking recommendation letters for its third annual "Help for Heroes" program to help wounded U.S. military personnel and veterans in Clark County who need specialized furniture.
"Help for Heroes" collects letters from the community describing the situations of potential recipients. Walker Furniture will then provide certain necessary items that are not typically available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, such as lift chairs, adjustable beds, new mattresses, dining sets, and more.
Several other nonprofit organizations will also be offering assistance to the program. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission will give food and other items to recipients as needed. Famous Dave's will also hold a food drive at all their valley locations.
The program will provide some relief for 10 military members, according to CEO Larry Alterwitz. The deadline for submitting a letter is June 30. Furniture items will be delivered shortly after a special presentation event in July.
Letters should be sent to:
Larry Alterwitz, CEO
Walker Furniture/Help For Heroes
301 S. Martin Luther King Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV 89106
Letters may also be faxed to 702-384-7772, hand delivered to Walker Furniture, emailed to mclucas@walkerfurniture.com, or submitted online at www.walkerhelpforheroes.com.
