HENDERSON (KTNV) — Henderson resident Mona VanGorder turns 80 years old today and was surprised by her family with a police escort birthday party parade on Sunday afternoon.

Her grandkids Sean and Taylor along with one of her daughters and a best friend planned the surprise with the help of the Henderson Police Department.

Over 25 cars participated in the parade.

VanGorder moved to Henderson in 1949 and went to Basic High School.

She's been a Henderson resident for 71 of her 80 years and says she loves the community there.

VanGorder retired 15 years ago from Jones Vargas Las Firm where she was a paralegal in probate law.

She tells 13 Action News the key to staying young is "playing tennis daily with my girlfriends and being friends with my grandkids."

Happy Birthday, Mona!
