Hyde Park Middle School is one step closer to winning a $100,000 science lab makeover, through the Fab School Labs contest sponsored by the Northrop Grumman Foundation.

The Clark County School District is calling on the community to help the school win this contest, by voting online through the Fab School Labs Facebook page: Facebook.com/FabSchoolLabs.The voting is open today only!

Hyde Park teacher Denise Romonoski nominated the school for this honor and is now among 20 semifinalists from across the country. The school lab makeover contest provides public middle schools with an opportunity to make their dreams of a state-of-the-art science lab a reality, with grants up to $100,000 available to each of the five winning schools.

"We are honored and excited to be in the running to win a science lab makeover," said Anna Belknap, principal of Hyde Park Middle School. "Teachers like Ms. Romonoski are always working to find ways to enhance our classrooms, and this opportunity would be a great way to get students more excited about the fields of science, technology, engineering and math."

The five grant recipients will be paired with a representative from Finn Scientific, to work on design plans for the classroom/STEM lab renovation that will be completed by the end of 2016.
