LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — There's a new place to stay downtown as Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman formally unveiled The Downtowner.

The mid-century modern motel was built back in 1963, but it has recently gone through an extensive renovation.

The property's general manager said 88 rooms were taken down to the bare concrete with the upgraded style bringing a 'Palm Springs feel' into the downtown area.

"We have flamingos and golf and our backdrops... it feels like you're somewhere different than downtown - it's really great," said John Yzaguirre, general manager of the Downtowner.

The motel is open for reservations and management says they plan to renovate more of the rooms soon.
