"Dial 'S' for Salvation" takes place on Sunday at 2 p.m. on Instagram, so participants can experience the performance from the safety and comfort of their homes.

The theater's artistic director, Troy Heard, says when the World Health Organization declared a pandemic, Majestic Repertory Theatre canceled its current production of "The Garden Party."

"That was a huge blow to our income," he said of the small, intimate theater located on Main Street in the Arts District between Buffalo Exchange and ReBAR.

"But we felt it was ethically responsible to the community to help reduce possible exposure to COVID-19," he added.

That's when "Dial 'S' for Salvation" was born.

"We decided to expand the universe of that show with a free online spinoff," explained Heard.

Participation is easy he says, all you have to do is follow Majestic Repertory Theatre on Instagram at @majesticreptheatre and watch for the live story at 2 p.m.

Heard says the theater will do more online shows with different characters in the future. You can follow the Majestic Repertory Theatre Instagram account for updates.

Sunday's show, as well as future shows, are part of a larger "Coronathon" fundraiser to support the nonprofit theater during the shutdown, says Heard.
