Super Summer Theatre will hold a casting auction on Sunday, Sept. 11, as part of the 2nd Annual Gala Under the Stars at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.
Super Summer Theatre has chosen Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "Oklahoma" as the 2017 Season Opener Fundraiser with more than 25 starring and supporting roles on sale to an all-amateur production of the classic American musical, professionally directed by Troy Heard. Proceeds from both the casting auction and the performances will support the nonprofit's mission and educational outreach programs.
No stage experience (or talent) is necessary.
The gala begins at 5 p.m. with a VIP reception and follows with a general reception at 6 p.m. with an open bar, appetizers, a picnic-themed raffle and activities for children at this all-ages event. At 7 p.m., dinner and the program will begin with the casting auction and a special performance by Speeding Theatre.
Auctioneer Joaquin Crame of Top Hat Benefit Auctions will spur on the live bidding for the lead characters, including Curly McLain, Laurey Williams, Jud Fry, Aunt Eller, Ado Annie Carnes, Will Parker and Ali Hakim.
Twenty ensemble and chorus roles will be auctioned online at starting on Sept. 1.
Rehearsals begin in March 2017 on nights and weekends, culminating in two fully staged concert-style performances, May 19 and 20, 2017, at the Boman Outdoor Pavilion at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.
Admission to the gala and casting auction is $150 for VIP tickets to include the VIP reception and reserved seats for the dinner and program, $75 for general tickets (includes the general reception and open seating for the dinner and program) and $40 for children 6-17. Children 5 and under are free.
