Painting classes, usually with alcohol and sometimes food involved, have become quite popular in recent years. They are often described as the perfect activity for date nights, a night out with the gals, an evening with friends, or even a way to bond with coworkers.

The classes or parties quickly became popular because they offer something different, affordable and enjoyable to do and a "souvenir" to take home.

There are several places that offer classes or parties throughout the valley, including a brand-new one at The Park on the Las Vegas Strip.

The next time you are looking for something a bit different to do, keep this list in mind:

The Park outside of T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip hosts Palette Serenade the last Wednesday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. The lively event fuses painting, music, dining and drinking. Guests enjoy step-by-step painting instruction to create artworks in a specific theme while socializing and enjoying live music. Set up in front of theatrical sushi hotspot Sake Rok, guests can soak in the surrounding landscape while working on their masterpieces. For $25, painters receive art supplies and the opportunity to take their artwork home that night.

The Silverton hotel-casino is hosting a Picture Perfect Paint Night on July 29. Create a one-of-a-kind painting with a step-by-step process with a local artist. Paint, canvas, brushes and aprons will be provided. Cost is $15.
Design & Dine offers a variety of classes monthly at three locations, including classes for kids and cosmic painting. The 2.5-hour classes for adults are usually about $35. The 2-hour classes for kids are usually $19. Titles of paintings in upcoming classes include "Chasing Dreams," "Blue Poppies," "Swaying Branches" and "Thoughtful Nights."

No experience is necessary at Paint and Party Las Vegas on Eastern Avenue. Each party painter can select the painting they want to paint, and a studio artist will provide help and guidance. Also, individuals are welcome as are pairs or groups. Also, painters are invited to bring snacks and refreshments to enjoy. Cost is $30 for adults, $20 for kids 17 and under.
