Kentucky Derby: Places in Las Vegas fans can go to enjoy this year's big race

The following is a list of places hosting special events for the Kentucky Derby on May 6.  To submit items for this list, send an email to webmaster@ktnv.com.

ameriCAN Beer & Cocktails
It’s the 143rd Run for Roses on Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. and ameriCAN is offering a $50 open bar package that includes the Kentucky Derby specialty cocktail, the Mint Julep. The open bar package is available all day, every day.  Every day, guests are encouraged to sit on the patio, grab a beer or cocktail and B.Y.O.G.; Bring Your Own Grub. Enjoy pizza, tacos, burgers, burritos, cupcakes and more while watching the NBA, NHL and the MLB games.

Batali & Bastianich Restaurants - Las Vegas
Celebrate the 2017 Kentucky Derby with a limited edition, hand-crafted cocktail served at all four locations of the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group (B&BHG) restaurants in Las Vegas; Carnevino Italian Steakhouse at The Palazzo; B&B Ristorante at The Venetian; B&B Burger & Beer at The Venetian and OTTO Enoteca e Pizzeria at The Venetian.

The Kentucky Derby-inspired cocktail, “Local Hero,” is named after the #28 horse competing in this year's race. Race fans and guests alike can enjoy the cocktail for $15 and it will be available during the weekend of the derby, May 5 and 6.

BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas
BEER PARK will kick off Derby Day with a rooftop Kentucky Derby viewing party and a tailgate-style twist on a Bluegrass favorite all day on Saturday, May 6. Exclusively for Derby Day, BEER PARK will offer the Kentucky Hot Brown, a twist on the traditional favorite made with shaved oven-roasted turkey, aged Kentucky ham, Mornay sauce, parmesan cheese and tomato, sandwiched between two slices of toasted bread. The venue will also offer a special on mint juleps.
 
In the spirit of the race, staff will encourage guests to dress in their Derby best. Those who choose to participate will receive a complimentary glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne to sip.

Beerhaus at The Park
On Saturday, May 6, Beerhaus will be off to the races beginning at 11 a.m. with an interactive horse racing arcade game, Derby hat giveaway and specialty mint juleps in celebration of the Kentucky Derby.

Boulder Station
The Boulder Strip’s premier property lays down the facts at 6 p.m., May 5 inside The Railhead. Featured speakers are race experts Gordon Jones, Joanne Jones and Boulder Station host, Tony Vega. There will be free beer, water, and soda for attendees, and seminar guests can enter a drawing for a chance to win $1,500 on May 6. Attendance is free and open to the public.

The Cosmopolitan
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and CG Technology will host a complimentary Kentucky Derby Betting Seminar to feature a panel of speakers who will educate attendees on betting basics, including identifying favorites, as well as the underdogs in the derby. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how the book makers set lines, which may come in handy when placing bets. The seminar begins at 1 p.m. It will take place in the Race & Sports Book.

The Dorsey
The Venetian's newest cocktail bar, invites guests to celebrate the Kentucky Derby with a specialty Julep for 2 (Don't Mind If I Do) cocktail, available on May 5 and 6.

El Cortez
Celebrate the greatest two minutes in sports at El Cortez. Casino guests can earn 1,500 slot base points on Friday, May 5 and receive a free $20 bet on the Kentucky Derby race. The El Cortez will hold a complimentary Kentucky Derby viewing party on Saturday, May 6 in the Fiesta Room with $5 mint julep specials all day.

Fiesta Henderson
Be in the know with Fiesta Henderson’s Kentucky Derby seminar, led by race experts Jerry J. and Ralph Siraco, from 1-3 p.m. on May 4 in the property’s race book. Everyone 21 and older is welcome, and there will be giveaways throughout the free event.

Jerry's Nugget
Throughout the day, place a $10 Derby wager and receive a Kentucky Derby Commemorative Glass. Those making a $40 wager on the Derby Matchup Parlay Card will receive a $10 Jerry’s Nugget Dining Card. Limit 2 glasses and 1 dining card per guest, while supplies last. Additional treats include free morning coffee and donuts, $2 Track Sandwiches served from noon to 4 p.m., and red-stemmed roses given to all the ladies. MoreClub members making a pari-mutuel bet all year-round get $1 in comp for every $25 wager. That’s a 4% comp return on all race wagers. Use comp dollars at the Jerry’s Nugget Gift Shop, restaurants, snack bar or the Main Bar. Comp shopping even extends through the thousands of merchandise found on Zappos.com. Orders are exclusively placed at the MoreClub’s very own Zappos.com Kiosk. Bettors must show their MoreClub player’s card at the betting window to earn comp.

La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway
While the jockeys are vying for the Triple Crown, guests may enjoy a “Quadruple Crown” bourbon flight, featuring 1-ounce pours of four ultra-premium bourbons: Rowan’s Creek, Noah’s Mill, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and Eagle Rare, priced at $37. La Cave will also show The Kentucky Derby on high-definition televisions located in the bar area.

Lagasse's Stadium
Chef Emeril Lagasse's award-winning sports bar, Lagasse's Stadium at The Palazzo is celebrating the Kentucky Derby in grand style with a specialty menu. Enjoy the biggest horse race of the year with over 100 HD screens, including the main 9-foot x 16-foot screen, luxury boxes, plush stadium-style seating and billiard tables. Menu highlights include fried green tomatoes, Kentucky Derby hot brown and creole seasoned French fries, fried chicken biscuits and Woodford Reserve mint juleps.

Palace Station
At the original Station Casinos property, the Kentucky Derby seminar kicks off at 8:30 a.m., May 5 inside the race book with expert analysis from Gordon Jones, Richard Saber, and Dave Valento. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Rockhouse
It’s the 143rd run for the roses on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m.  Rockhouse is offering a $50 open bar that includes the Kentucky Derby classic Mint Julep.

SLS Las Vegas Hotel-Casino
On Saturday, May 6, SLS Las Vegas invites guests to experience the excitement of the Kentucky Derby at Umami Burger, Beer Garden & Sports Book with mint juleps, a limited edition William Hill souvenir glass and all the racing action on more than 50 high-definition televisions. Wagers of $20 or more on the most exciting two minutes in sports will be rewarded with a complimentary Kentucky Derby souvenir glass courtesy of William Hill, limited to one per guest while supplies last.

South Point Handicapping Seminar
The South Point Race Book will offer a Kentucky Derby Handicapping Seminar for racing fans on Friday, May 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. The seminar gives horse racing enthusiasts a chance to preview competing horses and learn complete racing histories from host Ralph Siraco, expert handicapper Patrick McQuiggan and Southern California and Oaklawn Park clocker, Donald Harris. The seminar will also host two special guests, Emily Gaskin, racing commentator for Hoosier Park Racing & Casino and Rachel McLaughlin, racing commentator and production manager for Indiana Grand Racing & Casino. This event is free and open to the public.

South Point Kentucky Derby Viewing Party
The South Point Grand Ballroom will host an official viewing party for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 6 with doors opening at 9 a.m. Horse racing fans can take advantage of various food specials and receive complimentary drink tickets by placing bets at designated wagering stations located throughout the ballroom. In addition, guests can take part in an "All Under One Roof" $5,000 Twin Quinella on Saturday, May 6. Only offered the day of the race, participants who choose the first two finishers correctly have a chance to win $5,000. Racing enthusiasts have the opportunity to learn handicapping tips and tricks from professional handicapper, Patrick McQuiggan and meet two special guests, Emily Haskin with Hoosier Park Racing & Casino and Rachel McLaughlin with Hoosier Park Racing & Casino as well. This event is free and open to the public.

Spago by Wolfgang Puck at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
Spago by Wolfgang Puck will present America's greatest race, The Kentucky Derby, with an array of race-themed food and drink specials, Saturday, May 6. Guests are invited to come dressed in their “Derby” best to sample some of the “Bluegrass State’s” most prized plates in addition to tableside mint julep service with bourbon provided by Woodford Reserve. Menu highlights include Buttermilk biscuits with salted maple butter and shaved country ham or indulge in a Kentucky “Hot Brown,” an open-faced turkey sandwich with bacon and topped with Gruyère mornay sauce to name a few.

Sunset Station
Experts dole out all the Derby information you’ll need at the race book inside Sunset Station from 6-7 p.m., May 5. The event will be hosted by Chuck Esposito, race and sports director at Sunset Station and Brian Blessing, host of Sports Book Radio and the Vegas Hockey Hotline. Race experts to be featured at the seminar are Richard Eng from the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Daily Racing form, and Steve Davidowitz from Gaming Today and author of several race handicapping books.

Virgil's
Fans can cheer on their favorite horses during the Kentucky Derby at Virgil’s while enjoying an array of drink specials. The barbecue restaurant will feature the Triple Crown made with Old Forester Bourbon, Branca Menta and fresh lemon as well as $6 Buck Shots made with Templeton Rye and Branca Menta and $5 Old Forester Bourbon Shots.

Westgate Las Vegas
Derby Central at Westgate will provide attendees with an expert look at the Kentucky Derby field and free horseracing handicapping advice. Experts include author Richard Eng and Dave Valento, creator of popular Track Phanton Analysis Sheet. The seminar will take place from 2 to 3 p.m.

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar
Yardbird Southern Table & Bar located at Restaurant Row in The Venetian will celebrate the Kentucky Derby with a specialty mint julep cocktail featuring Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup, fresh mint, shaken over crushed ice and topped with powdered sugar, available on May 5 and 6.
