The city of Las Vegas is hosting several family-friendly holiday happenings this week.

The Downtown Cultural Series will feature the Nevada School of the Arts Quartet at noon Dec. 16 in the Jury Assembly Room at the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse. They will perform holiday classics. The concert is free and open to the public.

There will be a family cookie exchange and holiday movie night on Dec. 16 at the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA. Join Mayor Pro Tem Steve Ross for some holiday fun! Enjoy hot chocolate and popcorn while watching “The Polar Express” movie. If you’ll be participating in the cookie exchange, please provide two dozen cookies and copies of your recipe to share.

Or, head to the Durango Hills Community Center at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 to get into the holiday spirit by decorating cookies and watching "The Polar Express." Refreshments will be served while supplies last.

The Poor Richard's Players will bring the holiday classic "It's A Wonderful Life" to life in the style of a radio drama at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Call 702-229-6383 for more information.
