Celebrity chef Kerry Simon was honored with a tribute along the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Sunday evening.

Simon died in September of multiple system atrophy, an aggressive form of Parkinson's disease.

The hotels put his photo on their marquees around 7 p.m., lasting an hour. Participating properties included The Palms, The Cosmopolitan, Station Casinos (all properties), Fremont Street Experience, the Miracle Mile Shops, Maverick Helicopter's marquee, Gold Spire and Inspire Theater.

Simon's Carson Kitchen downtown was closed from 3 to 6 p.m. as his former colleagues celebrated his life.

Simon was one of the first celebrity chefs to make his mark on the Las Vegas valley. He owned several restaurants throughout the years and was honored with a memorabilia case at the Hard Rock hotel-casino.
