The 13th annual Bark in the Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 5 at Cornerstone Park on Wigwam Parkway in Henderson.

An estimated 3,500 people and hundreds of dogs are expected to attend the four-hour event. Bark in the Park features a variety of contests, vendor booths, entertainment, and demonstrations by the Henderson Police Department K-9 Unit.

New to this year’s event is a chance to win a gift card to the Animal Inn pet boarding kennel, a feline dental cleaning (value $250) from VCA Animal Clinic or a City of Henderson FunCard. To enter, participants must like the Henderson Sports & Recreation Facebook or Twitter page and post a photo of their dog at the event using the hashtag #barkinthepark16. A photo kiosk will be available at the event.

Residents interested in adopting a dog are encouraged to attend. Several rescue groups will be on hand with dogs in need of forever homes. More than 500 dogs have been adopted at Bark in the Park over the last 12 years.

All dogs must be leashed and must be under the control of a handler at least 10 years of age. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
