The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas will host a one-day event on Nov. 21 where 9,000 food baskets will be distributed in a contactless drive-through to Clark County residents adversely impacted by COVID-19.

Each food basket contains a frozen whole turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, onions, oranges, and recipe cards for the included items. In the following days, 1,000 food baskets will be delivered to individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have lost family members to COVID-19.

The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas will set up drive-through lanes at Cashman Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents must arrive during their scheduled pick-up time and present their order confirmation number and identification.

The contactless drive-through allows residents to receive food assistance without having to exit cars or roll down windows, ensuring the safety of all involved.

This event is an extension of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas’ emergency food assistance programs that started on March 28 in response to the temporary closure of hotel and casino resorts across the valley.

With support from the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165, the Helping Hand Program provided food assistance to laid-off and furloughed Culinary and Bartenders Union members.

With additional support from individual and corporate donors, the CARES Act, Clark County, Nevada Department of Agriculture, and the City of North Las Vegas, the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas expanded its emergency food assistance program to provide assistance to all Nevada residents.

To date, the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas has distributed more than 175,000 food baskets to residents in need. Each basket includes a variety of essential food items to include protein, starch, fruits, and vegetables.

Residents receive food through a contactless drive-through on the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas’ campus in North Las Vegas and in various pop-up sites around Las Vegas, Laughlin, Mesquite, and Laughlin.

Contactless home deliveries are provided to residents with extenuating circumstances, including being a high-risk individual with underlying heath conditions, 65+ years old, diagnosed with COVID-19, under a medical order to self-quarantine, or without reliable transportation.

Reservations for this event are full.

Residents who are in need of food assistance can schedule a pickup for the regular food assistance program online.

Contactless home delivery is available for qualifying residents.
