While other construction projects are ongoing, one has finally wrapped up.
The Regional Transportation Commission celebrated the end of construction on a 14-mile stretch of Flamingo Road Friday.
The RTC thanked the community for its patience during the 17-month project with a fair featuring a bounce house, face painting and balloon animals for children, food, music and entertainment, as well as hands-on demonstrations showcasing the improvements made along the corridor.
More than $46 million was used to construct more than 100 new transit shelters, dedicated bus and bike lanes, roadway repaving, new pedestrian crossings, updated traffic signals, and water smart landscaping in the medians.
More than 90,000 vehicles travel Flamingo Road daily.
